The policies and procedures in place at the Parkmore Medical Centre have been designed to ensure a smooth running practice, which means less inconvenience for you.

APPOINTMENTS & AFTER HOURS

Appointments are necessary for all except emergency situations. Please make a double appointment for complex matters.  Please notify reception staff if a procedure or specific treatment is required.

When the surgery is closed, please call our Locum Service on (03) 9429 5677. An out of pocket fee may apply.

HOME VISITS

Home visits can be arranged for emergency cases, if a doctor is available. All home visits incur a fee. If a Doctor is unavailable please call the locum service or go to your nearest hospital emergency department. These are located at Dandenong, the Valley Private and Monash Medical Centre.

TELEPHONE POLICY

To give each patient the best consultation possible, doctors prefer not to be interrupted by phone calls.  Practice staff are happy to take a message, and the doctor will return your call as soon as they are available.

FEES

We require patients to pay for their consultation in full on the day of their visit, the rebate may then be claimed through the Medicare Easy Claim System at this surgery.

Pensioners, Disabled and Health Care Card holdersand all children under 16 years of age are bulk billed in hours, however charges will apply after hours.

All doctors of this practice work independently and are not in partnership, fees may vary between practitioners.

A list of fees for doctors are available at reception, including any extra items that may be needed at you consultation.

REFERRALS

We refer patients when necessary to a wide range of Consultants and Specialists. Our GPs can give you a referral letter to any specialist of your choice during your consultation.

REPEAT PRESCRIPTIONS

An appointment is required for any prescription required by a patient.

Please phone the surgery Monday to Saturday between the hours of 9.30am – 5.00pm.

CANCELLATION POLICY

We require patients to contact the surgery as soon as possible for all cancellations, failure to do this may incur a cancellation fee.

HEALTH INFORMATION MANAGEMENT

This practice is bound by the Commonwealth Privacy Act – Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000 and also complies with the Victorian Health Records Act 2001 and related 10 National (NPPs)and 11 Health (HPPs) Privacy Principles.

Your medical record is a confidential document. It is the policy of this practice to maintain security of personal health information at all times and to ensure that this information is only available to authorized members of staff.

DISABLED ACCESS

There is designated disabled parking directly in front of the surgery. The surgery has access for wheelchairs, however we apologise for being unable to provide access to the bathrooms. Staff are happy to assist patients that may need the disabled bathrooms at the adjacent shopping complex. A lift is available for access to first floor consulting rooms.

PARKING

Parking is available both in the car park and in the street surrounding the surgery. Please observe parking restrictions.
